When we talk about "Split Brain," we are talking about a failure of reality. If two nodes believe they are the leader, data corruption is inevitable. This is why etcd demands a quorum.

The Scheduler

The kube-scheduler is often misunderstood as a manager. It is not. It is a matchmaker. It watches for newly created Pods that have no Node assigned. It checks the inventory of every node—CPU, RAM, Taints—and scores them.

It finds the perfect home for the Pod, writes that decision to etcd, and goes back to sleep. Ideally, it does this 100 times a second.
